Last Updated on Friday, 16 July 2010 13:35
The next Alpha Course at Cornerstone begins in September 2010 and will run every week until Thursday 9th December 2010.
Who is Alpha for?
Alpha is for everyone who wants to ask questions and discuss the meaning of life. Everyone is welcome, regardless of whether you have a belief in Christianity.
What is Alpha?
The Alpha Course provides an opportunity to explore the meaning of life in an informal and friendly series of talks and discussions. Topics covered included "Who is Jesus?", "Who is the Holy Spirit?", and "Why and how do I pray?". We meet for a cooked dinner each week before the talk starts.
You don't have to attend every session, just come along for the first meeting and see what you think.

The Alpha Course 2009 Report
Created on Thursday, 20 May 2010 12:02
We were asked by the Evangelism team in June to arrange the autumn Alpha course. A team was drawn together and speakers approached after prayerful consideration by the Evangelism team. In cooperation with the Prayer Ministry team, a prayer walk around Hythe was arranged when leaflets advertising Alpha were delivered.
We had been involved with Alpha from the beginning in this church - arranging courses from 1997 for several years. Some exciting times - and this year was no exception! The team prayed that we would attract those from outside the church, or on the fringe who were not yet Christians. We ended up with 18 guests, the majority of whom fell into this category - of very mixed age (16 to older than us!!). Three discussion groups of just the right size and mix created friendship, trust and openness as issues were wrestled with! The food was amazing! - many thanks to Penny Hill for heading up the catering and involving Homegroups in producing the meals each week.
Several of our guests committed their lives to Christ during the course. Only one guest dropped out halfway through, and we are now embarking on a 5 session follow up programme with some brief input to try and deal with questions members still have. Three of our youngest members are currently helping to run Youth Alpha, which has initially attracted 15 participants. Thank you to everyone who played such an important part in the team - but the biggest thanks to God for guiding us and drawing us all closer to Him.
We are looking into some form of daytime enquirers course on a morning to attract the contacts we have, especially young parents we already have who use the foyer, and will be praying about what happens to our guests after the follow up sessions, and the possibilities of an autumn course in 2010.
