Boys' Brigade 2009 Report

Cornerstone: Hythe United Reformed Church PrintE-mail

We continue to run varied activities on a Monday evening to keep 20 boys occupied over three sections. The Anchor boys are well organised by Gill and Rachel Tabenor. Juniors are kept busy by Ian Edinborough, Jake McHugh and Oli Barker. It was one of those really good happenings when Jake came back to the company in September and wanted to help in the Junior Section. He has a good working relationship with Oli and between them they come up with some strange but enjoyable games for the boys. Bill Irwin helps in both of these sections which is much appreciated. The Company Section is overseen by me with most of the organising being done by Gordon Tupper and Oli. We still use the old way of teaching in Boys’ Brigade by using drill, Bible and physical activities.

We support the Battalion activities in football, swimming and Cross Country. Our most successful activity is the annual camp for boys of 11 years and over, followed by a camp of parents, children and friends from the church. This wouldn’t be possible without the valuable help from numerous friends in the church.

Our aim is to encourage boys to progress through the company and church life. Our thanks are due to all the officers and helpers.
